JAKARTA - The world has been treated to the inaugural debate of the 2024 United States (US) presidential candidate, which is hot and funny at once. Imagine, at one point, the debate turned into a battle over who was better at playing golf.

The debate between Joe Biden of the Democratic Party and Republican Donald Trump, took place Thursday night US time. The two candidates argued about the economy, abortion, immigration and war in Ukraine and Gaza and even included some very private attacks.

A senior Democratic strategist told Reuters it was unusual for an incumbent to step down so far in the election cycle, but there would be calls for Biden to do so. Meanwhile, when Reuters interviewed a number of voters confirming that it was a very bad night for Biden. They described Biden's performance in a very weak, embarrassing debate, and even difficult to watch.
