Promoted By PKS So Cagub Will Be, Anies Wants To Return To Happiness Jakarta Residents

JAKARTA - Former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan spoke about himself being officially promoted as a candidate for governor (cagub) in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. Anies appreciated the PKS support and promised to make Jakarta residents happy.

Anies also invited other parties who would support him to run in the 2024 Pilkada.

"Alhamdulillah, after PKB and PKS, God willing, there will be other parties who want to fight together to return Jakarta to a developed city, the citizens are happy," said Anies on his personal social media @aniesbaswedan quoted by VOI.ID, Thursday 27 June.

Anies said he met with PKS officials in the near future to follow up on the support. Including, said Anies, will meet other party leaders who have supported him.

"God willing, upon returning to the country, we will immediately communicate with the PKS leadership to discuss further steps to follow up in the future, as well as other party leaders. We have fought together in Jakarta and at the national level with PKS, God willing, we will fight together in the future," explained Anies.

Anies did not forget to thank the entire PKS extended family. "Expressing our gratitude and appreciation for the attitude of PKS today which was conveyed by the President (Ahmad Syaikhu)," concluded Anies.

The Central Executive Board of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has decided to carry the pair Anies Rasyid Baswedan as a candidate for governor and Mohamad Sohibul Iman as a candidate for deputy governor in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

This decision was conveyed by PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu at the opening of the party leadership school, Tuesday.

"The DKI Jakarta PKS DPW structure has previously proposed several names of candidates for the governor of DKI Jakarta to the PKS DPP, including Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan and Mr. Mohamad Sohibul Iman," said Syaikhu.

Syaikhu said that there were many considerations by PKS in deciding Anies-Sohibul in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. This consideration is a track record of leadership experience both in the executive and legislature, credibility and capacity, as well as a great chance of winning.

In addition, said Syaikhu, the PKS DPP is considering proposals from the DKI Jakarta PKS DPW structure. Including, he said, listening to various inputs from leaders, ulama, habib, interfaith leaders, scholars, and the public regarding the Jakarta Pilkada.

"So the PKS Central Level Leadership Council (DPTP) at its meeting on Thursday, June 20, 2024 has decided to carry Mr. Anies Rasyid Baswedan as a candidate for governor and Mr. Mohamad Sohibul Iman as a candidate for deputy governor in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada," explained Syaikhu.
