JAKARTA - The general chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, responded to the move by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) to carry Sohibul Iman to become a cagub in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. The Golkar Party, said Airlangga, is ready to fight PKS in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, especially because the Golkar Party also has a competitive figure, namely Ridwan Kamil.

"Golkar also has a candidate, one of which is Ridwan Kamil," said Airlangga in Jakarta, Monday, June 24.

According to Airlangga, every political party has the right to nominate its cadres to advance in the Pilkada contestation. The reason is, it is the duty of political parties to produce leaders at various levels.

"Yes, each party can nominate," said Airlangga.

Therefore, said Airlangga, his party is not worried about the steps taken by PKS or other parties to nominate their cadres in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. However, Airlangga continued, the Golkar Party is currently still conducting a study to decide whether Ridwan Kamil will run in the Jakarta or West Java Pilkada.

Airlangga said the figure to be promoted by the Golkar Party in the Jakarta and West Java Pilkada would be announced at the same time.

"West Java, DKI is likely to be at the same time," Airlangga concluded.

Previously, PKS DPP Spokesperson Ahmad Mabruri emphasized that his party had officially promoted Sohibul Iman as a candidate for governor (cagub) in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. It's just that, he said, until now his party has not decided on the figure of cawagub, Sohibul Iman's companion.

PKS, he said, continues to establish intense communication with all political parties (political parties) in the DKI Jakarta DPRD to make the Jakarta Pilkada successful later.

"So it doesn't mean that the party doesn't have cadres, it does, but who is the partner will wait for the coalition to form, who will be promoted into a cagub and cawagub, and how the declaration will be made according to the right time, so just wait," said Mabruri last Monday.
