Jokowi Confesses "Lemes" Managing MotoGP Mandalika Needs 13 Licensing

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo admitted that he had felt "free" when he learned that the Mandalika MotoGP racing event in West Nusa Tenggara needed to take care of at least 13 permits.

The President stated this when giving an example of the complexity of licensing for international and national events in Indonesia in his direction at the Inauguration of Digitalization of Events Implementation Licensing Services in Jakarta, Monday, June 24.

"I gave an example of MotoGP in Mandalika, I checked with the committee, this has an extraordinary effect, the economic impact is IDR 4.3 trillion. It can absorb, involve 8,000 workers. The MSMEs involved are approximately 1,000. Once I asked how about licensing, my 'lelemas', it turns out that there are 13 permits that must be taken care of," said Jokowi.

The President conveyed that licensing difficulties in the implementation of MotoGP were partly due to the many names of licensing letters. ranging from recommendation letters, notification letters, to others.

According to the Head of State, the letters are the same as a form of licensing, all of which make licensing complicated.

Jokowi detailed that the implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP event requires licensing, among others, starting from village approval letters, recommendation letters for the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) NTB and Central IMI, recommendation letters from the police, police, NTB Police, to the National Police Headquarters.

Not only that, the implementation also requires a letter of support from the NTB Hospital, the fire service, a notification letter to Customs and Excise for bringing in goods from outside, a notification letter to the NTB Special Economic Zone, to a notification letter to the Indonesia National Single Window (INSW).

"If I am the organizer of the event, it will be 'free' before competing in the event. Maybe there are more permits that I have mentioned, or maybe my money will run out before the event occurs," said Jokowi.

The President emphasized that this was a fact that occurred in the field. Jokowi believes that the complexity of licensing for other major events outside the Mandalika MotoGP is definitely not much different.

"This is the same as music concerts, with other sporting events, it can't be far from what I mentioned earlier. How hard it is to be the organizer of events in Indonesia. In fact, events in Indonesia every year before the pandemic were approximately 4,000 events. Now 3,700 events," said the President.

Therefore, the President really appreciates the presence of Online Single Submission (OSS) which is an integrated licensing system, which makes it easier to obtain permits.

On that occasion, the President hoped that the digitization of permits that were launched would not only be in the form of a service website, but actually provide convenience in obtaining permits.

"It really gave certainty long ago, really cut our bureaucracy so that the emergence is a cheaper and more open, transparent cost (cost)," he explained.
