After Being Examined By Allegations Of Corruption, The Central Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office Detains The Chairman And Treasurer Of KONI Kotim

PALANGKARAYA - Investigators from the Central Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Kalteng) have detained the Chairman and Treasurer of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of East Kotawaringin Regency (Kotim) with the initials AU and BP, after undergoing examination as suspects at the local Attorney General's Office for several hours.

Assistant for Special Crimes (Aspidsus) of the Central Kalimantan Attorney General's Office, Douglas Pamino Nainggolan, in Palangka Raya, said the detention of the two suspects for 20 days from June 20 to July 9, 2024.

"The reason for the detention is feared that both of them will commit themselves and can eliminate evidence, because they have been summoned three times to undergo examination at the Central Kalimantan Attorney General's Office and never attend," said Douglas Pamino Nainggolan, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 21.

He said, objectively in the detention regulations, he had also met the requirements for 20 days of detention. The suspects also spent 20 days of detention being placed in the Class IIA Palangka Raya Detention Center (Rutan).

Furthermore, after detaining the two suspects, Central Kalimantan Attorney General's Office investigators will conduct other examinations such as witnesses. The examination did not rule out the possibility, to find out who was involved in the KONI Kotim grant fund case.

"In this case, nothing has been covered up. We have always carried out transparent checks and always followed the handling materials so that according to applicable regulations, especially transparency to the media crew in this case," he said.

Regarding the screams of the suspect AU for the Central Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) activity for the 2023 fiscal year, Douglas emphasized that investigators are focusing on using KONI Kotim funds donated by agencies in the Kotim Regency Government.

"It's just that it is strongly suspected that the grant funds have not been used properly or in accordance with their designation. Meanwhile, government agencies may provide grant funds which will later be used for organizational purposes, be it Scouts, KONI and so on," he added.

Before ending his conversation, Douglas revealed, when he was about to be paired with a prison vest, one of the suspects fought back and did not want to wear the vest.

As a result, after several hours of examination from the afternoon until leaving at 23.30 WIB, finally the person concerned was taken to the Class IIA Palangka Raya Detention Center for temporary leave.

"Yes, when wearing the prison vest, one of the suspects fought back. Because the suspect was most likely in shock when wearing the prison vest," said Douglas Pamino Nainggolan.
