Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) RI Hadi Tjahjanto ensured that the money in the account indicated to be involved in online gambling would be returned to the state.

"Based on the decision of the district court, we will take the assets of the money in the account and we will hand it over to the state," Hadi said at a press conference at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wednesday, June 19, which was confiscated by Antara.

Hadi explained that currently the Online Judi Task Force through the Analysis and Transaction Report Center (PPATK) has recorded 4,000 to 5,000 accounts involved in online gambling activities.

The data will later be submitted to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters to investigate the flow of funds from the account

After that, continued Hadi, Bareskrim will freeze the account. Bareskrim also has 30 days to announce the freezing of the account.

If in 30 days no community will admit ownership of the account, then Bareskrim will hand over the money to the state.

Furthermore, continued Hadi, Bareskrim will only investigate who the owner of the account is. "We will see, we will investigate, then the police will be able to summon the account owner and conduct a legal investigation and process it," said Hadi.

Hadi ensured that this would be the first concrete step for the Online Judi Task Force in the next one to two weeks.

At the same time, PPATK Head Ivan Yustiavandana explained that the assets in the thousands of accounts amounted to hundreds of billions of rupiah. "A few hundred billion," he said briefly.

However, Ivan did not explain in detail the exact amount of the money

Previously, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued a decree to form an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force led by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto.

The formation of the Task Force is contained in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 21 of 2024 concerning the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force which was issued in Jakarta on June 14, 2024.

"Until now, 2.1 million online gambling sites have been closed and the Online Judi Task Force has been formed to accelerate the eradication of online gambling," said Indonesian President Joko Widodo on June 12.
