BPBD Sukabumi: Throughout 2024 There Have Been 202 Disaster Incidents

SUKABUMI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi City said that throughout 2024 from January to May in Sukabumi City, West Java, 202 disasters occurred.

"Extreme weather dominated disaster events in the last five months, totaling 91 incidents," said Sukabumi City BPBD Chief Executive Novian Rahmat in Sukabumi, Sunday, June 16.

As for the details for the landslide as many as 46 incidents, then 39 floods, then 11 tornadoes, as well as nine settlement fires and as many earthquakes as good events.

Meanwhile, for disasters every month, in January 36 incidents, May 35 cases, February 18 incidents, March 39 incidents, April 72 incidents and May as many as 35 disasters.

According to Novian, the losses incurred from the impact of the disaster reached Rp3.60 billion with 368 people affected. The total number of houses damaged was 484 units, with details of 36 heavily damaged, 104 moderately damaged and 344 lightly damaged.

The biggest loss was from landslides whose value reached Rp1.3 billion, extreme weather Rp859.1 million, residential fires Rp786 million hurricanes Rp426.5 million, floods Rp160.5 million, earthquakes Rp86.3 million.

"The number of victims and injuries were five people. Of which two people died, two were seriously injured and one was slightly injured," he added.

Novian said that for June, disasters are still dominated by hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides. However, the public must be aware of the dry season which is exacerbated by the natural phenomenon of El Nino which triggers drought and clean water difficulties.
