If You Go For The DKI Regional Head Election, Kaesang Prefers To Pair Anies Over Ridwan Kamil

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep has not yet decided to run in the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor (Pilgub) of DKI Jakarta.

However, if it was carried in the Jakarta Pilkada, Kaesang admitted that he preferred to be paired with Anies Baswedang rather than Ridwan Kamil (RK). According to him, Anies' electability is currently higher.

This was conveyed by Kaesang after blusukan and distributing notebooks with the front cover with the words "study and read is my ninja road", and the name "Kaesang Pangarep" on the back side cover.

"I can't do this yet, I haven't been nominated yet. For example, if you look at the survey, it's the most realistic with Mr. Anies," said Kaesang when met in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 14.

However, the youngest son of President Joko Widodo assessed that the performance of the former Governor of DKI Jakarta and the former Governor of West Java were equally qualified to lead the region.

"Everything is good, all of them are great people. Mr. Anies yesterday was also one of the presidential candidates. I like to watch, first, Anies' insistence is also good. Mr. RK is also quite good, taking part in West Java, everything is good. No problem," said Kaesang.

Some time ago, Kaesang revealed that he would announce the decision to run in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada when approaching the registration day for regional head candidates at the KPU.

"If you ask me whether I will go forward or not, I will wait for the surprise in August," said Kaesang when met at the PSI DPP office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 4.

In the 2024 DKI Jakarta DPRD legislative election, PSI obtained 8 legislative seats. Thus, PSI needs other political parties to form a coalition, at least getting at least 22 seats to carry its cagubs. This is also a consideration for Kaesang.

"So if we look at it, PSI should be able to nominate governors and deputy governors, although they still have to form a coalition with other parties," said Kaesang.
