Weather Wednesday 12 June, BMKG Reminds Heavy Rain Potentially In 10 Areas In Water Resistant

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of rain with moderate to heavy intensity for a number of areas in Indonesia on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. The risk of rain in a number of parts of Indonesia is still high, at least until September, although some areas have also begun to enter the dry season.

Several areas with rain are Bangka Belitung, Banten, Gorontalo, East Java, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Maluku, Papua.

The same warning was also given to West Papua, Riau, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, and North Sumatra.

BMKG also warned of the risk of heavy rain in Aceh, Lampung, and North Maluku. Meanwhile, in Bengkulu and South Sumatra, it is estimated that moderate to light rain is expected. Meanwhile, in West Java and West Kalimantan, it is estimated that the rain will be driven. Then East Nusa Tenggara is expected to have strong winds.

BMKG previously also stated that the risk of rain in a number of parts of Indonesia was still high, at least until September, although some areas had also begun to enter the dry season.

Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto explained that this happened because of several atmospheric dynamics that are still active in Indonesian territory, the Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) phenomenon, Rossby equatorial waves, Kelvin, to cyclonic circulation patterns and the potential for the formation of bend areas and wind slowdown.

This condition can have an impact on extreme weather of hydrometeorological disasters which include floods, flash floods, rain lava floods, landslides, and so on even though at the same time Indonesia began to be hit by the dry season in June-September 2024.
