Completing Firli Bahuri's Files, Metro Police Check Again Several Witnesses

Polda Metro Jaya will examine several witnesses in an effort to recover the filing process for the alleged extortion and acceptance of gratuities with the suspect, the former chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.

The case file for Firli Bahuri is known to have gone back and forth from Polda Metro Jaya to the High Prosecutor's Office or the DKI Jakarta Attorney General's Office.

"There is still an examination or request for information from several witnesses," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, to VOI, Tuesday, June 11.

However, it was not clearly stated who the witnesses would be examined in the process of completing the case file.

It was only conveyed that the names of former officials of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) such as Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL, Kasdi Subagyono, and Muhammad Hatta had been questioned again.

The examination process for them was carried out at the KPK. Ade said investigators had coordinated with a team from the anti-corruption agency regarding the collection of information on the three people who are now defendants.

"It has been carried out (the SYL et al examination) if I'm not mistaken June 4, 2024," said Ade.

The former Firli Bahuri case was known to have been transferred to the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office on December 15, 2023. However, after being investigated, the prosecutor stated that the case file was incomplete so that it was returned on December 29, 2023.

In the following few weeks, investigators who had completed the shortcomings of the case file returned to transfer it on January 24.

However, the investigating prosecutor who examined both formal and material stated that the file was still incomplete. So, it was returned back on February 2, 2024.

In this case, Firli Bahuri was named a suspect based on the results of the case title conducted on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Several pieces of evidence that became the basis for determining the suspect, namely, foreign exchange documents worth Rp7.4 billion. There are also the results of the extraction of 21 cellphones.

However, Firli Bahuri has not yet been detained. Although, he is already a suspect.

In this case, Firli Bahuri was charged with Article 12 e or Article 12 B or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
