PDIP Plans To Form New Axis In East Java Pilkada If Communication With Khofifah Buntu

JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) opens the opportunity to form a new axis in the 2024 East Java (East Java) Pilkada. They are ready to become competitors for the incumbent candidate, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, if the communication currently established is deadlocked.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the PDIP DPP, Ahmad Basarah, who said that communication with Khofifah had been carried out. However, no agreement has been reached yet.

"Our last position saw that our cooperation plan with Mrs. Khofifah is still dynamic," Basarah told reporters in the Central Jakarta area, Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Basarah said his party had offered Khofifah an internal cadre who was deemed suitable to accompany in the East Java Pilkada. PDIP feels this step is right because they have the most seats in the East Java DPRD.

"Of course we want to carry our own cadres at least as deputy governor candidates," said the chairman of the PDIP DPP.

"So, if the scheme with Mrs. Khofifah meets a dead end, maybe we will try another formation," Basarah said.

Meanwhile, Basarah did not want to talk much about the duet between the Khofifah and Emil Dardak. He said the political atmosphere could change because the dynamics always occurred ahead of the 2024 Pilkada.

"Yes, we know that in politics before there was yellow leaves, everything might still change. Because politics is dynamic," he said.

"However, once again, this is still being discussed, monitored for developments by friends at the East Java DPD. We will wait for reports or updates on the development of the Pilkada in East Java," said the Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI.
