JAKARTA - Two people opened fire on the Panamanian campus branch, killing a young man and injuring others.
The unidentified gunmen arrived at the regional college of the Veraguas university, about 250 km west of the capital, where a group of first-year agricultural science students gathered to work on projects on the pitch, said college director Pedro Samaniego.
A vehicle stopped and two people came out, firing fire at a group of people inside the campus, Veraguas police chief Hector Delgado said via video message reported by Reuters on Saturday, June 8.
Alvaro Leones was seriously injured and another student, Anel Tujuks, was taken to hospital, Samaniego said.
"The investigation is still ongoing and no arrests have been made," said a police source who did not want to be named.
Shootings at schools or universities in Panama are very rare.
