YOGYAKARTA Budisatrio Djiwandono's profile is attracting attention after a poster appeared containing his image with PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep. It is suspected that the duo poster is related to the plan to nominate as a candidate for governor-deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Although there was no official information regarding his candidacy, the appearance of the poster duo Budi Djiwandono-Kaesang was widely discussed in the media. Apart from this, who exactly is he?

Budisatrio Djiwandono is a politician born in Jakarta, 25 September 1981. He is the son of Sudrajad Djiwandono who is known as a famous economo and has served as Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) for the 1993-1998 period.

The mother herself is named Biantiningsih Miderawati Djojohadikusumo who is the eldest child of Soemitro Djojohadikusumo-Dora Marie Sigar. This means that Bianti is the nephew of Prabowo Subianto who is currently the elected president in the 2024 General Election.

When viewed from the DPR RI website, Budi Satrio Djiwandono has a fairly classy educational background. He traveled from the High School (SMA) at Berkshire School, United States. After that he continued his education at Clark University, United States by taking the undergraduate program majoring in Government & International Relations.

Budisatrio Djiwandono, who is Mila Gunawan's husband, has started his career in politics for a long time. As the nephew of the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Budi Satrio began exploring the world of politics through the party.

Even in 2014 this Catholic politician ran for legislative candidate for the DPR RI with the constituency (dapil) of East Kalimantan. Unfortunately his candidacy brought him to failure. Even so, Budisatrio qualified for Senayan and was inaugurated as a member of the DPR RI through interim replacement (PAW). At that time he replaced Luther Kombong who died in Singapore in June 2017.

After his tenure expired, Budisatrio again ran for the 2019 Legislative Election through the same electoral district and party as the previous year. From his candidacy he successfully passed the 2019-2024 term. Even Budisatrio was inaugurated as Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR RI until now. The commission is known to oversee agriculture, the environment and forestry, marine and fisheries.

In the 2024 Presidential Election, Budi Satrio was appointed as the Spokesperson for Winning the Gerindra Party Election. This can be seen through photo and video posts uploaded on his personal Instagram social media account @budjiwandono.

Budisatrio's Candidacy In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

As explained earlier, Budisatrio was rumored to have advanced in the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election with Kaesang Pangarep. However, based on his statement, he admitted that he had received directions from the Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto.

"I have received directions from the Chairman of the Board of Trustees/Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Pak Prabowo, to continue the struggle in Parliament," Budi explained to reporters, Friday, May 31.
