JAKARTA - The Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, distributed cellphones to elementary school students. This is done to help students who are less able to access online learning activities.

The distribution of this cellphone was carried out by Gibran through the Mider Praja program which was carried out at an elementary school. This program has become a habit of Solo City Government officials since the Jokowi administration, which is carried out once a week every Friday.

The purpose of this activity is to see the condition of the area and problems in the community using bicycles.

In an upload on his Instagram account, @gibran_rakabuming, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took a photo with elementary school students who received this cellphone assistance.

"Mider Praja this Friday morning, my group and I biked to SDN 16. There I also distributed cellphones for students to use online," Gibran said as quoted from his Instagram account, Friday, March 12.

In addition to distributing cellphones, he also controls the preparation for implementing health protocols, especially in schools. This is done to welcome face-to-face learning which will start in about four months.

"I also control the preparation for the implementation of health protocols. So far, I have monitored the preparations for schools that will welcome the PTM (Face-to-Face Learning) which starts in July and has gone well," he concluded.

Gibran's move received appreciation from a number of netizens. Some even prayed for Gibran to go further in government and move to DKI Jakarta.
