National Police Chief And Attorney General Asked To Sit Together To Discuss Allegations Of Jampidsus Monitoring By Densus 88

JAKARTA - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives advised National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin to sit down together to discuss allegations of stalking of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) by members of the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police. This is to avoid wild narratives that may occur in society.

"The National Police Chief and the Attorney General must sit down together to trace these events. What is the cause, what is the background, and who is the culprit," said a member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the NasDem Party faction, Taufik Basari, Monday, May 27.

After that, continued Taufik, the National Police and the AGO must convey the search to the public. Because according to him, the people have the right to know what really happened.

The man who is familiarly called Tobas also mentioned Article 8A of Law Number 11 of 2021 concerning amendments to the Prosecutor's Law. Where in carrying out his duties and authorities, the Prosecutor and his family members have the right to get state protection from threats that endanger themselves, souls, and/or property.

"And this state protection was carried out at the request of the prosecutor's office to the National Police. Therefore, coordination between the Attorney General and the National Police Chief must be carried out immediately to also localize the impact that occurred," said Taufik. In line, a member of Commission III of the DPR RI from the Democratic Party faction, Didik Mukrianto asked the AGO, TNI and Polri to take this stalking issue seriously.

"If that is true, it will certainly be our common concern, as well as our concern and vigilance against law enforcement," Didik told reporters, Sunday, May 26.

Didik hopes that this stalking issue will not lead to excessive speculation that could threaten law enforcement stability.

"In addition to the Attorney General's Office, I think it is also important for the National Police to immediately clarify the news. It feels far from public common sense, if the Police use forces that do not match their main duties," he concluded. Previously, it was rumored that Febrie was being followed by members of Densus 88 Polri. The incident occurred when Febrie was enjoying dinner at a restaurant in Cipete, South Jakarta. One of the members of Densus 88 was caught monitoring Jampidsus dinner.

The incident was reported by two people who witnessed it, who said the incident occurred at around 20.00 to 21.00 WIB. They observed when the two members of Densus 88 left the restaurant, one of which was immediately secured by military police, while the other managed to escape.

The AGO is known to be uncovering several major cases. One of the most causing public unrest is the case of alleged corruption in tin trading system in the mining business permit (IUP) area of PT Timah in 2015-2022.

Febrie has recently been monitored by the TNI military police on instructions because Jampidsus is investigating a large corruption case. Febrie is currently handling the corruption case of PT Timah's IUP worth IDR 271 trillion.
