The General Election Commission (KPU) of Jakarta has confirmed that it will not add members of the polling group (KPPS) at the polling stations (TPS) for the 2024 Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor Elections (Pilgub). Thus, the number of KPPS in one TPK remains at seven people.

Jakarta KPU member, Astri Megatari, explained that this decision was taken considering that there was only one ballot that voters had to vote.

"For the number of KPPS in one polling station, there are still seven people. However, later there will be an adjustment in the number of voters in one polling station," said Astri on Saturday, May 25.

"If the number of voters is below 400, then one person will choose. What adjusts is the number of votes, while the number of KPPS remains the same," he added.

Astri also invited the public to actively supervise the implementation of the regional elections. The KPU has opened registration for regional election monitoring from February 27 to November 16, 2024, as well as registration of survey institutions and quick calculations.

"The more monitoring and institutions that participate in the supervision, the more integrity, transparency, and proper supervision of this regional election will be able to be monitored," he said.

Regarding the impact of the deactivation of the population identification number (NIK) by the Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil) on the number of voters on the permanent voter list (DPT), Astri believes that this will not have a significant impact.

"The DPT that we compiled is based on the DP4 that we received from the Ministry of Home Affairs. That is what we are updating from the current stage and will later be designated as DPT," explained Astri.

The deactivation of the NIK by Disdukcapil is temporary. The affected residents can reactivate their NIK through the Dukcapil Service. The Jakarta KPU also emphasized that the deactivation of the NIK does not make it difficult for residents to exercise their voting rights in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. As long as the ID card or NIK is not crossed out, the residents concerned still meet the requirements as voters.

Previously, in May 2024, Disdukcapil DKI Jakarta recorded that 213,831 residents who no longer live in Jakarta had transferred population administration according to their current domicile. In addition, there are 1,170 residents with the status of state civil servants (ASN) and 42,000 other residents whose NIK was disabled due to death status.
