54 Bandarlampung Residents Reportedly Exposed To Singapore Flu

BANDARLAMPUNG - The Bandarlampung City Health Office (Diskes) said that there were 54 cases of Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) or Singapore Flu which were handled until May 2024.

"As of last Wednesday, we handled 54 people who were exposed to the Singapore Flu in this city," said Acting Head of the Bandarlampung City Health Office, Desti Mega Putri, in Bandarlampung, quoted by ANTARA Friday, May 24.

He said that Singapore's flu cases in the city tend to increase every month where in May there were 17 people infected by this disease.

"Our data is the highest in May with 17 cases, then April 15 cases, March 11 cases, February 4 cases, and January 7 cases," he said.

He explained that the symptoms of the Singapore Flu were characterized by fever, sore throat, decreased appetite and pain or not feeling well. Then in 1-2 days there will be red spots in the oral cavity which then break into sariawan.

"Furthermore, Singaporean Flu sufferers will also experience rashes on the skin and red spots on the palms, but they can also appear on the legs, buttocks and around the pubic skin," he said.

However, he revealed that Singapore's flu symptoms are generally mild so they can disappear by themselves after a few days

"Until now there have been no cases of death from the Singapore Flu," he said.

He also appealed to Bandarlampung residents to continue to increase body immunity and personal hygiene to avoid being infected with the Singapore Flu.

"Even if there are residents who are infected, we recommend immediately seeking treatment at the nearest health center or hospital and conducting isolation to prevent further transmission," he said.
