JAKARTA - The Faculty of Engineering (FT) of the University of Indonesia (UI) together with Petrosea showcased the results of the collaboration, namely the conversion electric bus from the first diesel engine in Indonesia.

Dean of FTUI Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah emphasized the importance of collaboration and support from various parties.

"Collaboration between academics, researchers, and industry players is very important to realize this vision," he said in his statement, Friday, May 24, which was confiscated by Antara.

The bus was exhibited at the 2024 Asia Southeast Asia Bus event at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO), Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

He hopes that the presence of this bus will not only inspire people to adopt electric-based vehicles, but also encourage local developers and industries to continue to innovate and develop environmentally friendly technology.

This initiative can be an important milestone in realizing more sustainable transportation in Indonesia.

The bus, which was carried by the Research Center for Advanced Vehicles FTUI, is a conversion bus from a diesel engine to electricity-based.

This bus is the third bus made by RCave and the first is the result of collaboration with Petrosea. This bus is the only one in Indonesia which is the result of conversion and can operate.

The control system is also the work of FTUI researchers driven by Control Expert and Lecturer of the Department of Electronic Engineering FTUI, Dr. Abdul Muis, ST, M.Eng.

The bus, which has gone through operational trials with a distance of more than 400 km, is expected to be an operational vehicle in the UI campus environment as well as in-city use.

Through the Research Center for Advanced Vehicles (RCAVe), FTUI and Petrosea presented conversion buses from diesel engines to electricity (machine fuel motor vehicles/KB BBM into battery-based electric motorized vehicles/KB BB).

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi visited the FTUI Electric Bus booth and discussed with the team regarding the cost of backscattering buses.

On this occasion, the Minister of Transportation encouraged the collaboration of the conversion of electric buses between the academic world and the industry carried out by FTUI and Petrosea to continue.

The exhibition, which took place on May 15-17, 2024, is proof that domestic products have strong competitiveness and are able to attract broad attention, and are an inspiration for the younger generation to continue to innovate.

The Busworld Southeast Asia 2024 event was not only attended by bus manufacturing companies, but also spare parts manufacturing companies, components, accessories, technology, and bus maintenance. The Southeast Asia 2024 bus was attended by more than 58 participants from 6 countries.
