Vice President Ma'ruf: The World Loses Peaceful Figures To The Death Of The President Of Iran

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the world had lost one of the peace figures to the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday (19/5) local time.

"We really miss people who are committed to creating world peace," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 22.

According to the Vice President, the late President Raisi was one of the figures who had a high commitment to maintaining world peace.

The Vice President also said that Indonesia felt such a big loss because Iran was a friend of the Indonesian state.

For the Vice President, Iran is a country that maintains peace, respects and supports each other, and is far from conflict with Indonesia

"This world, for us, is Indonesia, it's how peaceful, respecting each other, supporting each other and there is no conflict. Yes, we share our condolences. Iran is a friend of Indonesia," said the Vice President.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and seven other people in his entourage were declared dead in the helicopter crash they were traveling in.

The unfortunate accident occurred in the mountains near the border of Azerbaijan and Iran after a meeting between Iranian President and President Azerbaijan to inaugurate a dam located on the border of the two countries.
