Seven people were seriously injured after Singapore Airlines flights from London to Singapore experienced turbulence and were forced to make an emergency landing in Thailand.

Kittipong Kittikachorn, general manager of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport, confirmed that a 73-year-old British man died as a result of this incident.

Authorities are currently awaiting medical reports on victims, Kittikachorn said.

Kittikachorn said he was informed of an emergency landing in Bangkok just ten minutes before Singapore Airlines' plane landed.

Kittikachorn, who inspected the plane, reported several passengers were injured, and several had broken arms.

Earlier, airport officials said most of the injuries suffered on board were injuries and bruises.

"We took an hour and a half to evacuate all passengers," said Kittikachorn.

Turbulence also caused significant damage on board, with parts of the ceiling and the baggage compartment collapsing.
