JAKARTA - There is little warning about the chaos that will occur on the Singapore Airlines flight SQ321.

With about three hours remaining from London to Singapore, Malaysian student Dzafran Azmir felt anxious that the Boeing 777-300R plane had fallen upwards and began to vibrate.

The 28-year-old strengthened himself and checked if he was wearing a seat belt. Many other passengers did not, he said.

"Suddenly there was a very drastic decline so that everyone who sat and did not wear a seat belt was immediately thrown into the ceiling, several people hit their heads against the baggage cabin above and pressed," Azmir told Reuters, Tuesday, May 21.

"People fell to the ground, my phone slipped from my hand and thrown several alleys to the side, people's shoes were thrown," he continued.

One passenger died and another 30 were injured after a flight from London fell into an air bag before experiencing turbulence on the way. This condition forced him to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, officials and airlines said.

"The crew and people in the toilet were most injured because we found people lying on the ground unable to wake up. There were a lot of spinal cord and head injuries," said Azmir.

The captain told passengers they would make an emergency landing in the Thai capital Bangkok.

"Once the plane is on the runway, nurses and rescue workers arrive to check for injured victims," said Azmir.

"I don't think they anticipate how bad it is," he said.

The ambulance then arrived. Azmir saw at least 8 people on a stretcher being pulled out of the emergency door. It took 90 minutes to evacuate the plane, he said.
