Ghufron Reports KPK Council To Bareskrim Polri, Tumpak: Surprised Us All

JAKARTA - The step of the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, to report the KPK Supervisory Board to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has surprised the Chairman of the KPK Council, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean. He said the investigation into the alleged ethical violations currently being carried out was actually proof that they had worked.

"Heran, that's right. We are all surprised. That's all. We are surprised because we carried out the mandate of the law as the appointed official," said Tumpak to reporters at the ACLC KPK building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 21.

Even so, Tumpak admitted that he did not know about the report made by Ghufron. He admitted that he only heard about it from a number of reports.

"We don't know what it says yet, what was reported, what was said to be defamatory, what was said to be abuse of authority," he stressed.

"What I know is that the KPK Council carries out its duties, carries out the duties of the law, everyone who carries out their duties according to the law and also does not know whether to commit a criminal act is his name," continued Tumpak.

Tumpak ensured that the KPK Council would not be afraid of the report submitted by Ghufron. However, he felt disappointed by this incident.

"If that happens, we will face it. That's my disappointment for so long that we have been working this time. Because if someone is reported there (Bareskrim Polri, ed) it means committing a crime. Are we Dewas doing a crime," asked Tumpak.

As previously reported, the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, reported the KPK Supervisory Board to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. The report was recorded with the number LP/B/138/V/2024/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri on May 6.

There are two articles that Ghufron complained about because they were deemed violated by the KPK Council in the ethical process that ensnared him. Namely Article 310 of the Criminal Code and Article 421 of the Criminal Code.
