Kemenkopolhukam Office Receives GeNose COVID-19 Ration From Kemenristek

JAKARTA - The Office of the Ministry of Politics, Law and Security (Kemenko Polhukam) received a domestically produced COVID-19 detection tool, GeNose. This tool is provided by the Ministry of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Innovation.

The COVID-19 detection tool made by Gajah Mada University was more effective, followed by a sampling trial of several staff from the Kemenko Polhukam office.

The head of GeNose C19 production, Eko Fajar Prasetyo, claims that GeNose is more effective, faster, and has a very affordable price, compared to other screening tools such as antigen and PCR.

"Testing it is easy, we are quite easy, just taking a breath sample and then handing it over to the officer or operator. So everyone can independently take the sampling. From the level of security and risk, it is very much safer," said Eko in his statement, Wednesday, March 10.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Lt. Gen. Tri Soewandono welcomed the handover of GeNose C19 to the Kemenkopolhukam office. He said that domestic products must be fully supported by all parties.

"Hopefully this tool can further reduce and narrow the spread of COVID-19," he said.

For information, GeNose is a rapid screening tool made by the nation's children, whose test is different from the antigen or swab test. The test performed with GeNose is exhale-based.

GeNose has the advantage of being able to detect it faster and at a relatively cheaper price with an accuracy of above 90 percent.

Later, the patient's breath sample will be taken using GeNose, if the result is positive, it must still be validated using the standard PCR test swab test.

GeNose C19 has also obtained a distribution permit from the Ministry of Health with No. KEMENKES RI AKD 20401022883 on December 24, 2020. This tool will later be used to assist the government in handling COVID-19 through rapid detection.
