Tumpak Panggabean Complaints Dewas Has No Authority, Arsul Sani Offers Again Revision Of KPK Law

JAKARTA - Chairman of the (Corruption Eradication Commission) KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas), Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, is concerned about the limited authority. Tumpak said that in the KPK Law there was no single authority for Dewas.

"Looking for the law where the authority is, there is no mention of it", said Tumpak at the DPR Commission III hearing (RDP) with the leadership of the KPK and Dewas KPK at the DPR building, Wednesday, March 10.

Tumpak said that his party had already held talks with the KPK leadership. Therefore, the KPK Dewas asked for input from Commission III of the DPR regarding this matter.

"Maybe there is a hint from you so that we can make a more detailed agreement. It is not to ask for adult authority, but it needs to be there. Maybe this is a forgetfulness", he said.

Tumpak emphasized that his party had never said Law 19 of 2019 weakened the KPK. "But I always say there are many crucial things in Law 19 of 2019", said Tumpak.

Responding to the statement by the Chairman of the KPK Dewas, Member of Commission III of the DPR from the PPP faction Arsul Sani immediately offered to revise Law 19 of 2019.

"Observing what was conveyed by the leadership and chairman of the Dewas, I just went ahead, what if we revise the Corruption Eradication Commission Law again?", said Arsul.

"But this time the initiation is the KPK itself", he continued.

Arsul admits that Law 19 of 2019 must be improved, one of which is about the authority of the KPK Dewas. He has no objection if the law is changed.

"So we have set a precedent. The law is not a holy book, the law must be made to be revised if indeed the future needs are felt to not support a performance or the performance of an institution is even better, please", said Arsul.
