Four Suspects Of Smuggling 4 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine At Tarakan's Juata Airport Turned Out To Be One Family

TARAKAN - The case of the disclosure of narcotics smuggling of methamphetamine weighing 4 kilograms (kg) by an Avsec officer at Juwata Tarakan Airport, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), is now being handled by the BNNP Kaltara.

The head of the BNNP Kaltara, Brigadier General Hisar Siallagan, revealed that apart from securing evidence, officers also arrested 4 suspects, namely C (45), MJ (26), N (47) and P (26).

"They (suspects) came from Jakarta, which is controlled by the dealer to take goods from Tarakan, which are planned to be brought to Jakarta," he said.

The four were arrested when they were about to enter the airport to depart for Makassar. Avsec officers managed to detect suspicious items that the suspect was carrying during the examination.

"The suspects are one family. There are husband, wife, son and future son-in-law. They are willing to become couriers of methamphetamine because they are lured with Rp 20 million if they manage to pass the evidence," he said.

The disclosure of the smuggling began with an inspection at Security Check Point 2, 2nd floor of Juwata Airport, Tarakan. At that time, officers searched the passenger with the initials C and found 4 packs of crystal methamphetamine weighing 1,028 grams.

"Officers then traced Passenger C tickets, which found 4 passenger names in 1 booking code, then searched for the 3 passengers," he said.

"From the results of the search on the other three passengers, white plastic packages were also found on the thighs of the 3 passengers, each carrying more than 1 kg," he said.
