JAKARTA - Chairman of the West Java Golkar DPD Ace Hasan Syadzily admitted that he had communicated with Ridwan Kamil regarding his candidacy in the 2024 Pilkada. Ace said Ridwan Kamil was more inclined to nominate again as governor of West Java (West Java).

"No, Mr. Ridwan Kamil himself stated to me that he said that he was more inclined to West Java, so far," said Ace Tuesday, May 14.

It is known that Ridwan Kamil was rumored to be competing in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. His name is also widely a candidate for government minister Prabowo-Gibran.

"He told me that about where he would be assigned, he certainly depends on party policy. Yes, we certainly leave it to the Golkar party DPP, to the chairman, and I have also spoken to the chairman several times, that it is better for Mr. RK to remain in West Java," said Ace.

Ace admits that Ridwan Kamil has indeed received duties in two provinces, namely West Java and DKI Jakarta. However, after the West Java Golkar DPD discussed with the Deputy General for Election Winning, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, the party wanted to encourage Ridwan Kamil to run again in West Java.

"However, of course DKI is considered very strategic not only for Golkar but for other parties who have an interest in development in Jakarta. Because we know that although the capital city will move to IKN, Jakarta as an area that has strategic value as a business center needs to be improved so that it becomes a city that is really the center of the Indonesian economy," explained the Deputy Speaker of the DPR.

Nevertheless, continued Ace, the decision regarding the 2024 Pilkada was submitted to the Golkar DPP and Ketum Airlangga Hartarto. Moreover, Golkar must cooperate with other political parties.

"And we know that Mr. RK is also known to get attention from not only Golkar but also other political parties, so it requires discussion and political communication with other political parties. Moreover, I have to say that Golkar in West Java is not enough to nominate itself, so we need a coalition with other political parties," he concluded.
