JAYAPURA - Anan Nawipa, the perpetrator of the murder of the Koramil Commander 1703-4/Aradide Paniai Lieutenant Satu Infantry (posthumous) Oktovianus Sogalrey has been a member of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) for one year.
This was revealed after the Habema TNI Operations Command Intelligence Unit examined the perpetrators shortly after being arrested on May 11, 2024.
"Anan Nawipa is a member of the OPM Osea Satu Boma group and has joined for one year based at the Kebo Headquarters," said Information Officer for Koops Habema Ltnan Colonel Arh Yogi Nugroho, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 14.
Yogi Nugroho did not explain in detail the main reason Anan Nawipa carried out the attack that killed Danramil Oktovianus Sogalrey.
After carrying out the attack on Danramil, Anan and his group immediately fled. TNI personnel immediately gave chase by tracking down the whereabouts of Anan and other members of his group.
Until now, Anan Nawipa is still undergoing legal proceedings by officers.
Previously, the Head of Information for Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih Lieutenant Colonel Inf Chandra Kurniawan confirmed information that the OPM was the perpetrator of the shooting of Danramil 1703-04 Aradide Letda Inf. Oktovianus Sogalrey.
"The victim was attacked and shot by an OPM group in the Pasir Putih area, Aradide District, Paniai Regency, Central Papua, Thursday (11/4)," said Lt. Col. Inf. Candra Kurniawan when contacted in Jayapura, Friday (12/4).
From the report received by Kapendam, the incident began when the victim left Koramil Headquarters 1703-4/Aradide, Wednesday (10/4) afternoon. However, it was awaited until Thursday (11/4) morning that the person concerned did not return.
After that, a search was carried out and the victim was found dead from a gunshot wound.
"A moment after being found, the victim's body was evacuated to Enarotali, then taken to Nabire," explained Kapendam.
