Vice President Calls RI-Saudi Arabia Discussing Benefit Values From Hajj And Umrah

Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin said there was a discussion between the Government of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia regarding the distribution of benefits for money entering Saudi Arabia through Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia.

"Mrs. Sri Mulyani (Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia) told me that there has been talk with the Minister of Finance of Saudi Arabia because we have received a lot of money from Saudi Arabia, both through Hajj and Umrah. So far, Saudis have enjoyed their property, consumption, transportation, others," said the Vice President when giving a speech at the "Silaturahmi of the Indonesian Sharia Bank Association (Asbisindo)" at the Head office of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 13.

The Vice President explained that the Minister of Finance had conveyed to the Minister of Finance of Saudi Arabia how that Indonesia could also take the value of the benefits of these various facilities.

"How so that we can also take advantage of it, don't benefit from the money there, it only benefits Saudi Arabia. The Minister of Finance in Saudi has agreed because it is being followed up as to how the property is, how to transport it, how to consume it," said the Vice President.

Moreover, he said, Indonesia is also one of the contributors to the most Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

"We have a lot of Umrah pilgrims if the Hajj is only 270 (one thousand pilgrims) but the Umrah is very large and our money goes in there every day, thousands (of Umrah pilgrims) every day," said the Vice President.

The vice president also considered this an opportunity and Islamic banking could take on a big role.

"So that this is also our chance of getting into the region, I think Islamic banking can take a big role there, as well as in other countries, but what is certain is that our money has entered Saudi Arabia through Umrah and Hajj," said the Vice President.
