3 Farmers At The Maluku KKT Hand Over 3 Assembled Weapons To The TNI, 2 Long Laras

The TNI's Outer Islands Security Task Force (Pamputer) has secured two illegal firearms that were voluntarily handed over by residents of Tanimbar Islands Regency (KKT), Maluku.

"To overcome the dynamics of the problems that occur in the community, including the issue of possession of firearms," said Dansatgas Pam Puter Dandim 1507/Saumlaki Lt. Col. Inf. Hendra Suryaningrat in his statement, Monday, May 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

As for those who were secured consisted of two homemade firearms, namely one long-barreled rifle with minor and mandated damage, and another short-barreled homemade weapon in a heavily damaged and mandated condition.

The two weapons were handed over by fishermen from the Tanimbar Islands with the initials MS (50) and EH (45) farmers in Eliasa Village, Tanimbar.

Meanwhile, another long-barreled homemade weapon was obtained from a farmer with the initials YNS (54) in East Lamdesar Village, Tanimbar.

The acquisition of these illegal firearms, he said, was given by the community voluntarily thanks to social communication (komsos) by prioritizing territorial development and providing a sense of security by the Pamputer Task Force to the community.

"Through various territorial coaching activities that touch the hearts, conscience, and minds of the community as well as activities that provide security and presence of Task Force personnel in their midst, he continued, people with full awareness handed over their firearms to the task force personnel," he said.

Dansatgas Pamputer also emphasized that his party is committed to protecting the community, even building prosperity for the people on the Maluku border.
