Sudirman Said Team Admits Failed To Collect Support For 618,968 ID Cards To Meet The Conditions For Independent DKI Candidates

JAKARTA - Former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said is one of 4 people who failed to meet the requirements for support for collecting ID cards to register as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada for individual channels.

Sudirman Said volunteer team, Teguh Stiawan admitted that his party decided to stop the nomination effort at the last second of the deadline for submitting the DKI cagub support requirements independently.

This is because Sudirman Said's team failed to collect public support as evidenced by voter ID card data. In this year's Jakarta Pilkada, independent cagub-cawagub must have a minimum support of 618,968 ID cards.

"Since we moved to collect support from May 1, 2024, until the end of the KPU registration on May 12, 2024, we have managed to collect 319 thousand supports, while the time given by the KPU is very limited," Teguh said in his statement, Monday, May 13.

Teguh admitted that his party also had difficulty accessing the KPU's Candidate Information System (Silon) website. This also makes it difficult for Sudirman Said volunteers.

Even though he died in the nomination of an independent path. Teguh said that his party still wanted Sudirman Said to run as a candidate for governor. The only way that remains is carried by political parties.

Thus, Sudirman Said volunteers will lobby political parties to be willing to carry the former Co-Captain of the Anies-Muhaimin (AmIN National Team) Winning National Team.

"We will strengthen consolidation with other elements to propose to political parties to carry Mr. Sudirman Said. We will not stop, we will only change strategies. Hopefully, Mr. SS will remain willing to be promoted as a Cagub DKJ in the 2024 Pilkada," said Teguh.

It is known that the KPU has officially closed the opportunity for prospective individual regional heads to submit support requirements so that they can register for the 2024 Pilkada. The deadline for the handover ends on Sunday, May 12 at 23.59 local time.

In Jakarta, there will only be one independent candidate for Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta who submit support files, namely Dharma Pongrekun and R. Kun Wardana Abyoto.

Dharma Pongrekun is a three-star National Police retired general. Dharma served as Deputy Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency with a term of 2019 to 2021.

Until the deadline for submitting the support of individual candidates is closed, no other party will come to the DKI Jakarta KPU.

Thus, a number of figures who previously consulted with the DKI KPU regarding the fulfillment of support requirements canceled as an independent governor candidate for not submitting the file. They include Sudirman Said, Noer Fajrieansyah, Poempida Hidayatullah, and John Muhammad.
