Dharma Pongrekun Hands Over Independent Cagub Support Requirements To DKI KPU, Sudirman Said Canceled

The General Election Commission (KPU) has officially closed the opportunity for prospective individual regional heads to submit support requirements so that they can register for the 2024 Pilkada.

The deadline for the handover ends on Sunday, May 12 at 23:59 local time.

In Jakarta, there will only be one independent candidate for Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta who submit support files, namely Dharma Pongrekun and R. Kun Wardana Abyoto.

"So there is only one candidate pair, earlier we have received the supporting requirements," said DKI Jakarta KPU member Astri Megatari at the DKI Jakarta KPU office, Monday, May 13.

Dharma Pongrekun is a three-star National Police retired general. Dharma served as Deputy Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency with a term of 2019 to 2021.

Previously, in 2016 he served as Dirtipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri and Karorenmin Bareskrim Polri. Then in 2018 he turned to Pati Bareskrim Polri.

Until the deadline for submitting the support of individual candidates is closed, no other party will come to the DKI Jakarta KPU.

Thus, a number of figures who previously consulted with the DKI KPU regarding the fulfillment of support requirements, canceled as an independent governor candidate because they did not submit the file.

One of them is the former Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said. In addition, the governors who did not submit the support requirements were Noer Fajrieansyah, Poempida Hidayatullah, and John Muhammad.

"Because it has been closed, automatically there is no longer any chance to be able to enter the submission of the candidate pair file (independent)," said Chairman of the DKI Jakarta KPU Wahyu Dinata.

Dharma and Kun Wardana came to the DKI Jakarta KPU office with evidence of support in the form of data on 692 thousand ID cards for DKI Jakarta voters. This number has met the requirements of at least 618,968 voter ID cards.

After receiving it, the KPU immediately checked the completeness of the Dharma and Kun Wardana support files.

"We carried out an examination involving the Regency/City KPU. In the KPU's decision on technical guidelines, it is regulated that if the inspection exceeds the deadline for the last day, it will be carried out until it is finished," explained Wahyu.
