The Army ranks (AD) deployed 4,463 personnel to secure the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) international scale activity in 2024 in Bali.

Head of the Information Service (Kadispen) of the Indonesian Army Brigadier General Kristomei Sianturi said the personnel were a combination of various units, including Kodam IX/Udayana.

"TNI AD personnel involved in securing WWF 4,463 personnel and 2,530 of them came from Kodam IX/Udayana," Kristomei said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 11.

They will later cooperate with the Air Force and Navy to ensure that the Summit in Bali runs well.

Kristomei explained that his troops would later be placed at several security points that were considered crucial. They are equipped with a complete main weapon system (alutsista).

Not only securing the course of activities, Kristomei also ensured that all TNI AD troops would be humane and serve the community or WWF participants during the activity.

Previously, the TNI Headquarters would deploy 12,000 special personnel to maintain the running of WWF activities in Bali.

"They are tasked with securing and handling health there," said Head of the Indonesian Armed Forces Information Center (Kapuspen) Major General TNI Nugraha Gumilar when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday (29/4).

Gumilar explained that WWF activities will take place from 18 to 25 May 2024. Its own personnel began to carry out security at the location one week before the event took place.

This is done so that the personnel can carry out monitoring and mapping of locations that must be closely guarded.

Gumilar continued that his party did not only carry out ground security but also in the airspace and sea around the Island of the Gods. "Our KRI has deployed it in the Bali Strait and Lombok Strait," he said.

Not only focusing on safety, the TNI will also provide several aircraft fleets to evacuate in the event of a natural disaster during WWF.

"For preparation, if there is an evacuation, there will be a natural disaster or eruption of Mount Agung, we will prepare aircraft for evacuation there as well," he said.

Not to forget, health workers are also provided by the TNI to anticipate casualties from natural disasters that occur in Bali.

WWF is an international forum that involves a number of stakeholders in the water resources sector, ranging from the government, parliament, political leaders, multilateral institutions, politicians, academics, civil society, to business actors.

The 10th WWF carries the theme "Water for Joint Welfare" and will discuss several subthemes, namely water security and well-being; water for humans and nature; reduction and management of disaster risk; governance, cooperation, and water diplomacy; sustainable water financing, and knowledge and innovation.
