50 People Died Due To Flash Floods In Afghanistan

JAKARTA - It was reported that 50 people died due to flash floods that hit a number of areas in Afghanistan on Friday, May 10.

Floods hit at least two provinces in the north and northeast of the country, causing severe damage, local media said.

Head of the Natural Disaster Department in Baghlan province north of Hedayatullah Hamdard told Kabul-based Tolo News the floods that hit the districts of Burka, Nahreen, and Central Baghlan left 50 people dead.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Natural Disaster Department in the northeastern province of Badakhsan, Mohammad Akram Akbari, said floods in the Taskan, Yawan, and Tagab districts caused tremendous financial damage to people in the province.

In addition, communication routes from the Taskan district to the center of Badakshan were also closed due to flooding, according to Akbari.
