JAKARTA - A 4-month-old baby was among the dead who was taken to the only hospital that has been functioning in Rafah for the past 24 hours.

Reported by CNN, Wednesday, May 8, the Kuwait Special Hospital said 35 bodies were taken to the facility in one day, including nine children.

"The majority of those who died were in their 20s and 30s," he added.

The other 129 injured people have also been taken to hospital for the past 24 hours. Hospital media officer Sabre Muhammad warned the hospital was too small with limited capacity, and therefore could not handle the large number of victims.

Kuwait's Special Hospital is the only remaining functioning hospital in Gaza's southernmost city after Al-Najjar Hospital malfunctioned when Israeli forces declared the eastern Rafah a red zone.

There are still field hospitals left in Rafah; however, they also find it difficult to keep functioning.

The European Gaza Hospital to the east of Khan Younis also received casualties from Rafah, and one body who died from artillery fire on Wednesday, May 8, morning.
