TNI Reminds Officers To Beware Of Insecurity During The 2024 Pilkada

JAKARTA - The Commander of the TNI Doctrine, Education and Training Development Command (Kodiklat) Vice Admiral TNI Maman Firmansyah reminded TNI and Polri officers to be aware of high vulnerabilities that may occur in 15 regions during the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

Maman also continued the instructions of the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto regarding the potential for vulnerability in these areas, it is necessary to pay serious attention to all TNI soldiers and Polri personnel.

"This is the attention of the Commander in Chief. He really emphasized that later on in the regional elections we must really be serious. Raise our readiness higher as in carrying out the presidential or legislative elections. The regional elections really get attention and have to be serious because the threats are greater, the risks are greater," said Dankodiklat during the Joint Operations Training Program. 2024 TNI-Polri at the Indonesian Navy Command Staff Command Headquarters (Seskoal) reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 8.

The event was attended by 1,188 lecturers, caregivers, as well as student officers and students from the TNI Staff and Command School (Sesko), the Police Staff and High Leadership School (Sespimti), SeskoTNI AD, Sesko TNI AL, Sesko TNI AU, and the Police Staff and Medium Leadership School (Sespimmen). Then, there are also officers from friendly countries, including Southeast Asia and Europe.

In front of the debriefing participants, Laksdya Maman re-explained the 2024 Regional Election Insecurity Index prepared by the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS).

The same explanation was also conveyed by the TNI Commander during a meeting with Commission I of the DPR on March 21, 2024.

In this presentation, Dankodiklat showed that as many as 21 areas were believed to be vulnerable, with details of 15 regions having high levels of vulnerability and six other areas with moderate vulnerability levels.

A total of 15 areas with a high level of vulnerability include Aceh, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, West Papua, Southwest Papua, Central Papua, Papua Mountains, and South Papua.

"Each province has different types and various vulnerabilities. For example, conflicts between candidate pairs, clashes between fanatical supporters, political elite conflicts, conflicts in the base area to armed conflict in Papua," said Dankodiklat.

Meanwhile, six areas with moderate vulnerability include West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and South Sulawesi.

In areas where the level of vulnerability is moderate, the threat of conflict includes conflicts triggered by rivalry between candidate pairs, especially incumbent (incumbent) and non-resistent, then politicization of SARA.

"From the previous explanation, we can convey that the regional elections have greater vulnerabilities compared to the presidential and legislative elections. I repeat, I urge you to be fully aware that the simultaneous regional elections have greater vulnerabilities than the presidential and legislative elections. This is a challenge in the future because once again there are bigger clashes between groups, (but) where equipment is limited," said Maman.
