Emergency Response To Landslide-Longsor Disaster In Garut Extended By 14 Days

JAKARTA - The Garut Regency Government (Pemkab) has extended the emergency response period for movable and landslide natural disasters in the Banjarwangi and Pakenjeng sub-districts.

"The meeting agreed that we must extend this emergency response activity within the next 14 days, that is what we have determined," said Garut Regency Government Regional Secretary Nurdin Yana during the Analysis and Evaluation Meeting for the Handling of Emergency Response to Land and Land Land Land Movement Disasters in the Hall of the Garut Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Tuesday, May 7, confiscated by Antara.

He said that the Garut Regency Government had previously established an emergency response for the Banjarwangi area which was affected by landslides, then in Pakenjeng District which was affected by moving ground.

The Garut Regency Government, he continued, then extended the disaster emergency response period because there were still efforts that had to be resolved to further tackle the disaster area, including the relocation plan for residents' houses affected by natural disasters.

"So, there are still many friends in the field that we have not covered as a whole, so a second emergency response extension is needed," he said.

He conveyed, overall the results of the evaluation that the technical steps taken by related parties in dealing with natural disasters had gone well in accordance with their functions and duties.

However, for this continued emergency response period, he said, all regional work units can further improve their duties as a shared responsibility in restoring the condition of people affected by natural disasters.

"I ask that what has been done is further improved, because this is an emergency response, so inevitably it must also be an accumulation or'recovery' responsibility for the existing condition of society," he said.

The Head of BPBD Garut Regency! Anwar Saefuloh added, during the emergency response period, all people affected by natural disasters will get living necessities such as logistics and housing.

"This dish while in our evacuation continues to'support', yes, with a public kitchen of 14 days, and later we will continue to respond to the emergency response for the next two, we will be 14 days in the future," he said.

He said that in dealing with areas affected by natural disasters, there were 70 houses that had to be relocated to a place that was safe from the threat of landslides and moving land. Meanwhile, those who self-relocation are given stimulant assistance for the house.

"If the relocation is centralized, it will go to a place that has been prepared," he said.
