10 Tons Of Rice Prepared To Help Flood Disaster Victims In Lawu, South Sulawesi

MAKASSAR - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) under the leadership of Acting Governor Bahtiar Bahharuddin has distributed 10 tons of rice aid to the Luwu Regency Government (Pemkab), in order to ease the burden on flood and landslide victims in the area.

"We hope that this assistance can be immediately used to help residents affected by the disaster," said Head of the South Sulawesi Social Service (Dinsos) Malik Faisal as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 6.

Meanwhile, Acting Regent of Luwu Muhammad Saleh emphasized that he would continue to strive to provide the best for his citizens.

"And we would like to thank all those who have provided support in handling this disaster," he said.

With the steps taken, he said, it is hoped that conditions in Luwu Regency can recover soon and the affected residents can return to their normal lives.

"Our priority is to ensure this assistance reaches the hands of those in need, especially in isolated areas," said Muhammad Saleh.

Recent conditions show that around 3,000 residents from 12 villages in Latimojong District are still isolated due to disasters.

The local government has set a natural disaster emergency alert status until May 16, 2024, while disaster response status will last for one month, from May 3 to June 3, 2024 to focus on handling isolated areas.
