TEXAS Dozens of police were fully dressed and brought antihuru-hara equipment to a pro-Palestinian demonstration at the University of Texas campus, Austin.

A student at the University of Texas in Austin, described the moment when he saw about 30 state soldiers walking to campus. "It doesn't feel real." said Alishba Javaid as quoted by Aljazeera, Saturday, May 4.

Hundreds of students gathered at the grass court under the tower of limestone on campus as high as 94 meters as part of a strike against Israel's war in Gaza.

They hope their schools will divest from manufacturers who supply weapons to Israel. On the other hand, law enforcement is starting to appear more and more. The protests were peaceful, but tensions were still felt.

In 2017, Governor Greg Abbott signed a law banning government entities from cooperating with businesses boycotting Israel, and the country has taken steps to tighten the law further.

Abbott also called the protests that are currently "excited" and "anti-Semitic", thus strengthening misunderstandings about demonstrators and their goals.

In addition, state laws that took effect earlier this year forced state universities to close offices of diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI).
