5 Members Of The Aru Islands KPU Suspected Of Corruption In Grant Funds Sued 2 Years In Prison

AMBON - The Public Prosecutor of the Aru Islands District Attorney's Office, Maluku,Nicholas Simanjuntak, charged five defendants with alleged corruption in the Aru Regional Head Election grant funds for the 2020 fiscal year for two years in prison.

The prosecutor's demands were read out during the trial led by the chairman of the Ambon Corruption Court, Rahmat Selang, and accompanied by two member judges at the Ambon District Court, Friday, May 3.

The five defendants who were sentenced to two years in prison were Mustafa Darakay as Chairman of the Aru Islands KPU, and Mohamad Adjir Kadir, Kenan Rahalus, Vita Putranubun, and Yosef Labok as members of the KPU.

Each of the defendants, Mustafa Darakay, Mohamad Adjir Kadir, Kenan Rahalus, Vita Putranubun, and Yosef Labok, were sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of Rp. 50 million each, subsidiary to three months in prison.

The defendants were also required to pay compensation, namely the defendant Mustafa Darakay in the amount of Rp. 157,336,365 was deducted with the defendant's refund of Rp. 25,750,000 so that the remaining Rp. 131,586,365, subsidiary of one year in prison.

The defendant Mohamad Adjir Kadir was required to pay compensation of Rp. 236,856,365, deducted with the refund of Rp. 60,724,800, subsidiary of one year in prison.

The defendant Kenan Rahalus was required to pay a replacement money of Rp. 188,656,365 and deducted with the refund of state financial losses from the defendant Rp. 73,897,400, subsidiary to one year in prison.

Then the defendant Tina Jovita Putranubun in the amount of Rp. 168,806,365 was deducted with state money that had been returned amounting to Rp. 64,808,600 so that the replacement money charged to her was Rp. 103,997,765, subsidiary to one year in prison.

The defendant Yosef Labok was required to pay a replacement money of Rp. 149,586,365, which was deducted by the refund of state financial losses from the defendant in the amount of Rp. 64,990,000, so that the replacement money charged to the person concerned was Rp. 84,596,365, subsidiary to one year in prison.
