Kasatreskrim Cianjur Police AKP Tono Listianto said the arrest of the celebgram from Bandung began with the patrol of the Cianjur Police cyber team, after the attention of Indonesian President Jokowidodo to eradicate online gambling.
"The cyber patrol found an Instagram social media account promoting online gambling sites, so officers conducted a search and arrested the account owner," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 3.
He explained that the perpetrators promoted three online gambling accounts on his social media with profits from one account of around Rp. 15 million to Rp. 30 million per month, so the officers immediately searched for the whereabouts of the perpetrators.
The perpetrator was arrested at his home in the jurisdiction of Bandung City with a number of evidences including an Instagram account, and immediately led to the Cianjur Police Headquarters to account for his actions.
"The perpetrator will be charged with Article 45 in conjunction with Article 27 of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the second amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions in conjunction with Article 303 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment of 10 years," he said.
