JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPR/Parliament Puan Maharani hopes that the COVID-19 vaccination will reach all people. Puan appreciated the performance of the central and local governments in the COVID-19 vaccination program.

"Even though vaccination is still limited, the DPR hopes that vaccines can reach all Indonesian people", said Puan opening the IV Session Period 2020-2021 at a plenary meeting, Monday, March 8.

The DPR will also encourage the assurance of access to vaccines that are safe, effective and of good quality.

"For this reason, all relevant commissions in the DPR are expected to provide support for the realization of this grand plan", said Puan.

The government previously targeted to vaccinate 40,349,051 COVID-19 of Indonesia's 182 million people or around 70 percent of the total population.

The vaccination is given in two doses and the injection is carried out twice in a span of 14 days.

This is done to achieve herd immunity against diseases caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Previously, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine for the emergence of new immunity would be effective 28 days after the second injection.

"Therefore, public awareness of the implementation of health protocols must be carried out properly", said the Minister of Health at the Declaration of COVID-19 Vaccination for Tourism Business entrepreneurs in Manado, North Sulawesi as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 5.

According to the Minister, the COVID-19 vaccination does not protect 100 percent against the virus. However, it can reduce the probability or risk of getting sick so that it is expected to continue to implement health protocols properly.
