Russian Missile Hits Education Building In Ukraine's Odesa, 5 People Killed

JAKARTA - Missiles destroyed hit an educational institution building in Odesa, Ukraine. Five people were reported killed, 32 others injured.

Governor by goalkeeper, said apart from the death toll in the attack, one person also died after suffering a stroke caused by the attack.

The goalkeeper said eight people were seriously injured including a 4-year-old child. Among the injured victims was a small child and a pregnant woman.

Reuters television footage showed the roof of the private law academy building, devastated after the attack. Firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire that is still burning.

"I don't know what to say anymore," said Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov in a video uploaded on Telegram.

Images previously posted showed the building on fire and smoke billowing.

Video footage, which cannot be verified immediately, shows people receiving treatment on the road. One photo shows officers checking parts of the missile.

"In front of my eyes, a missile was shot down, it was right in front of me. My door was open and the glass shook. Then I saw this," witness Maria told Reuters pointing to the burning building.

Ukrainian naval spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk, in a post on the military's Telegram channel, said the attack was carried out with an Iskander-M ballistic missile with a cluster warhead.

Public broadcasting station Suspilne said the academy president, a former prominent lawmaker, Serhiy Kivalov, was among the injured.
