Prabowo Says NU Needs Power When Forming Government

JAKARTA - President-elect Prabowo Subianto admitted that he needed the strength of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) when forming a government for the period 2024-2029.

Prabowo said his government, together with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, needed the role of various parties to solve the nation's problems.

"We are moving forward with the awareness that we are supported by a collection of figures, a very large collection of forces. We feel that and we need that, including the strength of Nahdlatul Ulama," Prabowo said at the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) office, Jakarta, Sunday, April 28.

Prabowo explained that his government will also need strength from moderate, inclusive Islamic community organizations (ormas) and have confidence as well as other mass organizations.

"Therefore, with the support of these forces, as well as from the strengths of other elements, elements of Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, all groups in Indonesia, we will jointly maintain the safety of the nation," he said.

Prabowo said that support from elements of mass organizations is needed so that Indonesia's wealth can be maintained and can be enjoyed or felt by all Indonesian people.

"Therefore, the strategies and programs that have been initiated by President Joko Widodo and his government, we consider them a very strong foundation, and we will build on that foundation," he explained.
