Central Papua Provincial Government Efforts To Reduce Intersuster Conflict In Nabire

NABIRE - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Central Papua is trying to mediate the inter-suster conflicts that occur in Nabire. This conflict involves the Moni and Mee tribes, especially in recent times.

Acting Regional Secretary of Central Papua Province, Anwar Harun Damanik, in a press release in Jayapura, Papua, Sunday, said that these two tribes had often been in conflict since before, so they mediated the issue.

"On Saturday (27/4) we received information that there was a conflict between the Moni and Mee tribes which resulted in five injuries," he said, quoted from ANTARA.

According to him, they asked the public to stop the dispute so that all community leaders are involved in finding solutions so that this conflict does not drag on. "This conflict should not be allowed to drag on. Do not let more victims fall," he said.

He explained that five people were injured, namely two seriously injured and three minor injuries and his party had also asked all victims to be treated until they recovered.

"In addition to guaranteeing treatment for the victims, we also provided compensation earlier," he said.

He added that his party appealed to the entire community not to be provoked by developing issues and hoped that this dispute would be stopped so that all parties involved must create a sense of security, comfort and conduciveness in the Central Papua region, specifically in Nabire Regency.

"We urge us to protect and create peace in our respective regions. Let's prevent this conflict from developing," said Damanik.
