Jokowi Inaugurates The Reconstruction Of Hundreds Of Post-Employment Buildings In West Sulawesi

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the operation of 147 buildings that had been rehabilitated and reconstructed after the earthquake that hit West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar).

"Alhamdulillah, thanks to the hard work of all of us, today we will inaugurate 147 buildings that have been rehabilitated and have been reconstructed in West Sulawesi after the previous disaster, the earthquake disaster," said President Jokowi followed by the Presidential Secretariat network in Jakarta, Tuesday 23 April.

President Jokowi said the operation of the building consisted of 47 office buildings, 29 health facilities, 43 educational facilities, one worship building, one sports facility, seven flats, two traditional houses, and 17 drinking water infrastructure.

In addition, said the President, the government is also building three regional roads in the local area through a 22.4 kilometer presidential Instruction (Inpres) policy.

"The total budget of the central government absorbed through this activity reached a total of Rp1.31 trillion," said President Jokowi.

In the inauguration agenda which took place at SMK 1 Rangas Simboro District, Mamuju Regency, the President said that the entire process of rehabilitation and reconstruction of various infrastructures was taken by a number of relevant authorities based on direct instructions and orders that he conveyed during the earthquake that occurred on January 15, 2021.

"This was built, this was built, this was built. I saw earlier that Alhamdulillah it was finished, only less DPRD buildings and one mosque," he said.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 rocked Majene, West Sulawesi, and its surroundings in the early hours of Friday (15/1/2021). The earthquake caused 46 fatalities consisting of nine victims in Majene and 37 fatalities in Mamuju.

In addition, as many as 826 people were injured and around 415 houses were damaged.

Also accompanying President Jokowi during a visit to West Sulawesi during April 22-23, 2024, namely Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation (menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi, and Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
