Indonesian Bawaslu Calls PHPU Pileg Preparations Adjusting Registered Cases

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of the Republic of Indonesia said that preparations related to the Election Result Dispute (PHPU) for the 2024 Legislative Election would adjust cases registered at the Constitutional Court (MK).

"The application is 270, but later the application will be registered, we don't know how much. We will see later. We will see the processes during the legislative election," said Chairman of the Indonesian Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja at the Indonesian Bawaslu Building, Jakarta, Sunday, April 21.

Meanwhile, Bagja said that additional preparations would be made by Bawaslu to face the 2024 Legislative Election PHPU.

"Yes, we have to (there are additional preparations). We have to look at all the existing cases, and (we) prepare a supervisory report that was there that day," he said.

He explained that the surveillance report would contain Bawaslu's actions if they found violations related to the 2024 Legislative Election. Previously, Bagja had said that his agency was ready to face 270 PHPU cases for the 2024 Legislative Election in the Constitutional Court.

"It is possible that we (the leadership of the Indonesian Bawaslu), me, Mr. Herwyn and Mrs. Lolly, Mr. Totok and also Mr. Puadi will divide the five of us in attending the trial at the Constitutional Court," said Bagja at the Indonesian Bawaslu Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/4).

In addition, Bagja also prepared the supervisory committee (panwas) ad hoc in the context of special preparation for the PHPU Pileg at the Constitutional Court.

"We will ask for the information. If we can't, maybe we hope that the district/city Bawaslu can provide information in lieu of the sub-district supervisors who cannot attend," he explained.

"We have to finish this until the end of April and mid-May. We hope everything will be finished," he said.

The Constitutional Court will read out the decision on the 2024 presidential election PHPU case on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 09.00 WIB in the second floor courtroom of the Indonesian Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta.

Based on the schedule stated on the official website of the Constitutional Court, the constitutional judge will read out the verdict for the presidential election dispute filed by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md simultaneously on the same day.

"Monday 22 April 2024, let stand WIB, Speech of the Decision," reads the trial schedule quoted from the official website of the Constitutional Court in Jakarta, Friday (19/4).
