BMKG Reminds Most Of Indonesia To Still Be Alert To Extreme Weather Until April 21

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded that most areas in Indonesia are still on alert to extreme weather. Based on the BMKG website monitored in Jakarta on Friday morning, areas with extreme weather alert status have the potential to experience tornadoes, heavy rain, lightning, and even hail. Several areas with extreme weather alert status include Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Kep. Bangka Belitung, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan. Other areas with alert status are North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, West Papua, West Papua, Central Papua, Papua Mountains, Papua and South Papua. Therefore, BMKG urges the people in the region to be aware of the impacts that may be caused, such as floods, landslides, flash floods, puddles, puddles, strong winds, fallen trees, and slippery roads. Meanwhile, for the areas of DKI Jakarta, several areas experience sunny cloudy weather in the morning, namely West Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands. As for the areas of Central Jakarta and North Jakarta, BMKG predicts that the two areas will only experience cloudy weather in the morning. Entering the afternoon, the entire DKI Jakarta region will be simultaneously hit by rain, both light and moderate intensity. In particular, the South Jakarta and East Jakarta areas will be hit by moderate rain accompanied by lightning. BMKG predicts rain in DKI Jakarta will continue until evening.

Previously, BMKG had issued an early warning of extreme weather heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that could potentially hit a number of areas in Indonesia in the next week or from Tuesday (16/4) to April 21, 2024. Head of the Public Meteorological Center Andri Ramdhani said that in the next week the extreme weather could occur in most parts of Sumatra, especially parts of the west coast, Central Java, East Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Kalimantan.
