JAKARTA - The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) monitors the appearance of orangutan animals in Habau Village, Banua Lawas District, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

The South Kalimantan BKSDA Forest Police for the Banua Resort Working Area, Anam Aris Fadillah, said the results of monitoring at the location were recorded by two large apes or male and female adults in Habau Village.

"When we checked the location, we only found two adults and the confessions of the villagers were seen by four," said Aris in Tabalong, South Kalimantan, Thursday, April 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

This independent activity of the Banua Anam Resort, continued Aris, is a follow-up to community reports and the Head of Habau Village regarding the presence and appearance of orangutan animals that have disturbed residents' coconut plantations.

"In addition to monitoring, we also give an appeal to the public and the Habau Village apparatus not to commit violence when preventing orangutans from appearing," said Aris.

Even though it's not a wild animal, this big monkey can fight it if it feels disturbed or threatened.

Previously, the Head of Habau Village, Maulana, said that the emergence of orangutans was more intense and several times came to agricultural fields owned by residents in the past month.

"Previously orangutans were still in the forest, but now they are starting to enter the rice fields and are near residential areas," said Maulana.

Even these animals also eat coconuts belonging to residents in groups or individuals.

Maulana suspects that the emergence of orangutans who are starting to approach agricultural land and settlements of residents of Habau Village is due to running out of food in the forest.
