Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto said the pornography case involving children in Indonesia was a case of an iceberg phenomenon.

Based on data from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that there are 5.566.015 pornographic content involving Indonesian children over the past four years. However, Hadi believes this figure does not reflect the number of real cases on the ground.

"Because there are also victims who do not want to report the actual incident, cover up for fear of disgrace and so on," Hadi said during a press conference at the Kemenkopolhukam Office, Jakarta, Thursday, April 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

For this reason, he said he would form a task force (Satgas) for handling pornography against children to uncover the iceberg phenomenon. Because according to him, the pornography case involves children who are still in early childhood education (PAUD). "We will formulate because this problem I believe is an iceberg phenomenon, in the field it will be more incompatible with the data we receive," he said.

Sejauh ini, menurutnya pemerintah melalui sejumlah kementerian dan lembaga telah berupaya untuk memitigasi dan menyelesaikan permasalahan tersebut. Karena setiap kementerian memiliki regulasi tersendiri.Namun, untuk mengungkap fenomena gunung es tersebut menurutnya sejumlah kementerian dan lembaga tidak bisa bekerja sendiri-sendiri. Menurutnya kehadiran Satgas itu nantinya bakal membuat sejumlah kementerian bersinergi dan terkoordinasi."Masing-masing kementerian itu punya regulasi yang sangat kuat, kita tinggal mengimplementasikan," tandasnya.
