MANADO - Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said Mount Ruang in North Sulawesi Sitaro Islands Regency erupted.

Juliana explained that the type of volcanic eruption on the Island of Ruang was effusive.

There are several recommendations that residents must obey, said Juliana, namely the people around Mount Ruang, visitors or tourists remain vigilant and do not enter a radius of four kilometers from the active crater center.

People around Mount Ruang are also expected to remain calm, carry out activities as usual, not be provoked by issues about eruptions and continue to follow the development of activities through the MAGMA Indonesia application.

The regional government, provincial and district BPBD should always coordinate with the Ruang Volcano Observation Post, Tulusan Village, Tagulandang District, Sitaro Regency, or the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation in Bandung.

The level of activity of Mount Ruang, he said, would be re-evaluated periodically, as well as if there was a significant change in activity and the level of activity was considered fixed if the next evaluation had not been issued.

Based on the results of visual and instrumental monitoring showing an increase in volcanic activity, the level of activity of Mount Ruang was raised from level II (alert) to level III (standby) starting April 16, 2024 at 16.00 WITA.
